Travel insights from Jenna Buege, associate editor of The Compass
Whether it’s a milestone event or just an excuse to get the whole gang together, a multi-generational vacation is great way to strengthen family bonds. And when it comes to pleasing travelers of all ages, cruising ranks near the top of the list.
Cruise lines are making the necessary changes to accommodate larger groups in response to the surge of multi-generational travelers. One notable change are staterooms that are being designed to sleep more than two people; in fact, some of these rooms even have connecting cabins opening into larger family suites. In addition to having plenty of space, cruises also have a wide variety of dining options for the entire family. Picky eaters or food enthusiasts, cruise ships have so many options to choose from that everyone is sure to be happy.
Traveling by sea provides cruisers with tons of amazing entertainment onboard. While traveling together is great there usually comes a time when people want to break away from the group for a few hours for a little space. Luckily cruise ships are well equipped with plenty of age-appropriate activities to keep everyone busy. Between teen clubs, fitness centers, lounges and casinos, travelers will forget they’re out on the open ocean.
It’s also worth noting that all cruise ships that sail in U.S. waters must be ADA compliant so family members of all abilities can be included in the fun.
